Hello!
Welcome to my little corner of the world wild web.
Prior to my shift to writing children’s literature, I wrote mainly for politics and design-build.
But, I have always had kidlit sensibilities. For a technical writing certificate my favorite project was a cat retreat brochure called Rainforest Rendezvous. For the price of some mice, cats could tour the rare and fabulous fish ferns (no sampling allowed); take an audience with Prince Boya of Boyana to master the art of catatonics; and get pointers on stalking, prowling, and pouncing with the big cats in Tricks of the Trade!
One driver of my longtime desire to write for children is to give back to, and honor, all those authors who touched me with their words shaping my childhood in ways they would never know. Their books provided comfort, joy, connection, knowledge, and countless hours of delight.
My hope? That a book of mine stays with a child the way my favorite books have stayed with me. That would be true success.
When not writing, I live in the Pacific Northwest where, I indulge in interior design; restore old furniture; and hit yard sales, estate sales, and resale shops with my spunky 80-year old, English next door neighbor where we vow to leave empty-handed but fail 99.9% of the time.
So there you have it.
Pop over to Bits & Bobs to check out picture books I love, learn why I write, see my Pitch Sampler, and get tips in The Whole Writer based on my years as a yoga teacher.
Thanks for visiting!
Leigh
